The A2 jacket was used throughout pilot history, the ribbed cuffs and waistbands helped keep the air out and therefore the jacket was pretty warm.
The original A2 was seriously slim-fit, so much so that it would barely fit anyone now as pilots back then were quite a bit slimmer.
We changed the sizing on the jacket to what it is now, the modern A2.

Please remember when ordering a size that the chest is the most important measurement, if you usually take a standard 42" jacket, you will be a standard size 42 with us also.
This is a blouson jacket with ribbing, this makes the size chart hard to understand.
For example despite a small being a 27" back it will look shorter in wear due to the ribbing pulling the back shorter and creating the look you see in the films.

I went for the custom made in pre distressed hide with hand warmer pockets. I had size 42" BUT I added 1" on the length which has made the jacket far more comfortable to wear in everyday use. The hide was softer than I expected and very quickly had a nice worn look.

I have had my one off A2 jacket for a few years now,one off because when I visited Wested to sort a size out dear Pete said to me "I have just the leather for that..." sorry I don't know what leather it is made of but the fit and quality is,as always,superb.Will always treasure it and my memories of chatting with Pete.

I have just received my tailor-made Memphis Belle A2 this morning. The Italian Rosetta Hide is very suitable for this jacket. The bright sunlight outside will bring out the beauty of the reddish tint of this skin. I am very please with the quality of this jacket, although I didn't have this color in mind when I ordered it.

CHEST - Measure under your arms, under the fullest part of your chest

PIT TO PIT - Pit To Pit is the actual measurement of a jacket laid flat, zipped up and measured from one side to the other (It is Not Your Body Measurement)

SLEEVE LENGTH - Measure the arm from the top of your shoulder down to where you want the cuff to end
D
BACK LENGTH - Measure from the nape of your neck to where you want the jacket to end
E
SHOULDER - Measure from the neck to the end of the shoulder
For best results, take measurements over a t-shirt. If your measurements fall between sizes, we suggest that you size up for a better fit.
